Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wonky trunk covered in cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, long, tapering leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either green or bold blue, with beige zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, aquamarine blossoms with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like citrus.

In early summer it produces large, asymmetrical fruit. The smooth bronze skin is stretchy and spicy, and the soft purple flesh is bitter and oily. The brown seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
