This cream and olive moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In marshes.
It is large, growing up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very frail; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release hundred of spores.

It blooms only at night.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
It is suitable for making paper
