Bronzeberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, yellow bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The small handful of branches are long and thick and are covered with large amounts of small, very narrow and elongated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper and slate varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, slate blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like pot-purri.

In early summer it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The waxy copper skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the very soft bronze flesh is sour and sticky. The gold seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
