Caramel

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This colossal shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for around 22 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous narrow, slanted stems covered in fine, smooth, gray bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of miniature, needle-like, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are caramel at the bottom and grey with faded purple lines at the top, frail and smooth.

In early summer it produces many clusters of tiny, bold red blossoms with spiral shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like glue.

In early winter oblong fruits ripen. The leathery orange skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy aquamarine flesh is bitter and oily. The white seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It can survive a very long time without water.
