Crimson Marzipan

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 38 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous very thick, wavy stems covered in fine, rough, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of giant, pleated, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to gold at the top, delicate and smooth.

In late spring it produces lots of medium-sized, pink blossoms with many layers of petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like marzipan.

In late winter circular fruits ripen. The fuzzy crimson skin is stretchy and sweet, and the soft crimson flesh is sweet and spicy and juicy. The crimson seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
