Bluefruit Tree

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 74 feet (22.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, knobbly, dark green bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale brown.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of large, sickle shaped leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are vibrant green on the edges and pale purple at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, slate blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like marzipan.

In late summer it produces small, long, straight fruit. The waxy azure skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is very sweet, and the very soft blue flesh is spicy and syrupy. The crimson seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
