Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, angular trunk covered in ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale yellow.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of small, perforated leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either violet or blood red, with pale purple splotches.

In early spring, it produces dozens of large, cyan blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like a woman.

In mid-summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The crispy lime skin is peel-able and sweet and sour, and the slightly crunchy blue flesh is bitter and oily. The ashy red seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
