Blood Red Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This large caudiciform grows up to 93 feet (28.3 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is slate or caramel, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible blood red spines. The bulbous, hazel trunk can grow to as much as 93 feet (28.3 meters) in diameter. Its grey and green branches trail down across the ground.

The irregular-edged, needle-like leaves are either orange, or bronze with red patches. They are light, and detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 23 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are either sky blue or dark grey, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 15 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a soft scent that smells like perfume.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the bronze flesh is smooth, and the cream sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.

It comes in 2 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
