Bloodvine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 28 feet (8.5 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is green, and is covered in sharp spines. The stocky, cream trunk can grow to as much as 28 feet (8.5 meters) in diameter. Its orange branches are very long and thin.

The tattered-edged, thin leaves are dark grey on the edges and blood red at the center. They are resistant, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is quick growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are bold purple on the edges and aquamarine at the center grows at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is largely flat with 10 raised narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like apple.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the pink flesh is soft, and the peach sap is thin and can kill if consumed.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
