Caramel

This short caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The spear shaped stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in many fine, blood red, hair-like spines. The straight, caramel trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its caramel or ashy blue branches are tall, rigid and upright and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The small amounts of tattered-edged, wispy leaves are lilac and black. They are light, and take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are bold purple on the edges and aquamarine at the center grows at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 11 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like mango.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the pink flesh is smooth, and the white sap is thin.
