Bronzeberry

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 39 meters (128.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 212 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.

The sparse patches of branches are short and slender and are covered with small bunches of smooth, tiny, perforated leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid blue or caramel, with bronze zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, red blossoms with 6 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like faeces.

In late summer it forms small, pastel orange aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
