Amber Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in delicate, ridged, dark gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is silver.

The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are slate with vibrant orange tips.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, blood red blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like rotting meat.

In early winter it produces large, long, narrow fruit. The smooth violet skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy amber flesh is sweet and sticky. The red seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
