Ambervine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 55 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many wide, slanted stems covered in wrinkled, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, very thick, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally white, rigid and crispy.

In early spring it produces copious amounts of large, amber blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like rich perfume.

In midwinter tiny needle-like fruits ripen. The hairy bronze skin is tough and sweet and sour, and the slightly crunchy amber flesh is spicy and salty and syrupy. The bronze seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The sap is edible and slightly spicy.
It is excellent at collecting and storing carbon dioxide
It is suitable for making paper
