Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 41 feet (12.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 74 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in very thick, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.

The small handful of branches are short and slender and are covered with handfuls of large, wide leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are copper and caramel.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, blue blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like petrol.

In early summer it produces tiny, spherical fruit. The sticky grey skin is thick and edible when roasted; it is overwhelmingly salty, and the soft amber flesh is bitter and oily. The green seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
