Copperfruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is gray.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of huge, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and beige.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, cyan blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like pineapple.

In early winter it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The waxy green skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy amber flesh is extremely spicy and dry. The subtle red seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
