Copper

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 16 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several stocky, crooked stems covered in thin, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are very long, thin and wispy with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, pleated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid blue with azure zig-zags, frail and waxy.

It produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, light brown flowers with 6 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like candle wax. In mid-autumn it forms largeyellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
