Indigo Vine

This average-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 32 feet (9.8 meters) and growing as high as 49 feet (14.9 meters).

It takes 5 years for the brown or white stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are rough and woody.

The sickle shaped, clammy leaves reach up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) in length. They are either indigo, or red with cyan splotches, and have toothed edges.

During late spring, the bine produces a handful of average brilliant purple flowers.
