Crimson Brushwood
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has numerous branched, angular stems covered in thin, cracked, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is white.
The branches trail down to the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, slender, pointed, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either purple or blood red, with vibrant orange zig-zags, soft and flexible and smooth.
In early spring it produces dozens of medium-sized, hazel flowers with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like faeces.
