Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On trees.
It is giant, growing up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is extremely frail; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
