Caramel Sagebrush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big shrub grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 100 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many very thick, twisting stems covered in ridged, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, 4 pointed, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid caramel or silver, with gentle orange lines, robust and sticky.

In early spring it produces handfuls of large, pink flowers with finger-like petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like vomit.


It comes in 4 varieties.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
