Grey Moon Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This big leaf succulent grows up to 84 feet (25.6 meters) tall. The thin stem is brown, and is covered in large amounts of rigid faded red spines. The smooth-edged, crescent-shaped leaves are solid light grey or purple, with intense yellow dots. Small amounts of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 3, then 6, then 9, and so on. The leaves are hardy, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is very fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are generally intense yellow; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 9 petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like vanilla.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the cyan flesh is slimy, and the light grey sap is thin.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
