Blue Spike
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This short cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The very thick stem is gray, and is covered in large amounts of rigid sky blue spines. The spherical body is orange, and is covered in sharp spines.
It is slow growing, taking 16 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are generally intense yellow; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star with 6 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.
The cactus's skin is thick, the lime flesh is rough, and the pink sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
