Crimsonbell

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 23 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of branched, wavy stems covered in wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, broad, flat, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either light grey, or crimson with intense yellow patches, flexible and crispy.

In mid-spring it produces thousands of small, crimson flowers with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like new books.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
