Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small bine is a very fast growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 24 feet (7.3 meters) and growing as high as 102 feet (31.1 meters).
It takes 4 months for the violet stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 1 cm (0.4 inches) and are rough and gnarled.
The perforated, clammy leaves reach up to 3 inches (8 cm) in length. They are deep green and green, and have irregular edges.
During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of large crimson flowers.
It can flourish even in standing water.
