Silverfern
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 58 meters (190.3 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 498 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in rough, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is silver.
The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of soft, miniature, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid silver or amber, with hazel patches.
In late summer it forms tiny, sky blue aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
