Clinging Burgundy Rose

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This giant flower grows up to 9.2 feet (2.8 meters) tall. Its burgundy stem is thin and straight, and the small, faded green and cream leaves are slender, pointed with rounded edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 5 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 71 cm (28.0 inches) wide, with petals that are generally purple; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.
