Azurefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 77 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in smooth, silver bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The abundance of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of huge, pleated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid azure with indigo streaks.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, gentle orange blossoms with finger-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like chocolate.

In early autumn it produces , fan-like fruit. The rough pink skin is thin and salty and sour, and the crunchy azure flesh is savoury and very dry. The lime seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
