Orange Clinger

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its orange stem is very thin and splits into 4 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the small, moss green leaves are wispy with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Dozens of small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are generally pale purple; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. They fall easily.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like wet dog, and it has excessive amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.

It coexists peacefully with other plants.
