Gray Moss

This gray moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In rainy mountain ranges.
It is massive, growing up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is slightly light.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
