Emerald Starflower

This big flower grows up to 5.7 feet (1.7 meters) tall. Its emerald stem is thin and straight, and the miniature, green leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 38 cm (15.0 inches) wide, with vivid yellow petals that gradient shift to magenta on the outer edge. The central disk is blue. The flower head is shaped like a star with 39 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like bleach, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
