Amberbrush

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 25 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several wide, wonky stems covered in fine, wrinkled, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, circular, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are grey with amber tips, resilient and fuzzy.

In late spring it produces thousands of small, violet blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like leather.

In early winter tiny broad, flat fruits ripen. The smooth light brown skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy brown flesh is sweet and very juicy. The beige seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.
