Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, angular trunk covered in thin, waxy, black bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with large amounts of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and violet.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of large, blood red blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like rotten meat.

In late summer it produces , oval fruit. The leathery copper skin is thin and inedible, and the soft brown flesh is sweet and spicy and syrupy. The caramel seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
