Amberwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 30 meters (98.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in rough, brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with very large amounts of leathery, miniature, long, narrow leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in amber, hazel and slate varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, amber blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like coffee.

In late summer it forms giant, hazel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
