Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 66 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in brown, brilliant red and beige varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, copper blossoms with many layers of petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like a damp log.

In early summer it produces tiny, oval fruit. The crispy silver skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy pastel blue flesh is sweet and oily. The slate seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
