Copperfern

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 31 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, straight stems covered in delicate, smooth, light brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, perforated, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of emerald that gradient shifts to amber at the top, tough and crispy.

It produces several small, white flowers with umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like onion. In mid-autumn it forms smallbeige, tough-shelled seeds.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
Both the grass and the grains are savoury and very toxic.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
