Silverfern

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 30 meters (98.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 326 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in fine, ridged, silver and white bark, and inside, the soft wood is mahogany-coloured.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of waxy, miniature, wispy leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid grey with aquamarine splotches.

In late summer it forms tiny, grey, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
