Copperbrush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 49 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several wide, curved stems covered in very thick, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of giant, perforated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either bold yellow, or grey with black lines, resilient and waxy.

In mid-summer it produces hundreds of large, lime flowers with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like rich perfume.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The grass is savoury and extremely toxic and while grains are salty and non-toxic.
