Goldenleaf Tree

This large tree grows up to 69 meters (226.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 155 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The small handful of branches are very long and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of soft, miniature, asymmetrical leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are white at the bottom and bronze with gold splotches at the top.

In early spring, it produces clusters of large, faded purple blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like wet dog.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, grey seed pods.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
