Bloodfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This giant fruit tree grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 64 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine and blood red.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, turquoise blossoms with needle-like petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In late summer it produces , finger-like fruit. The soft yellow skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft hazel flesh is bitter and dry. The grey seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
