Pineapple Fir

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in silky, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of large, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are slate with amber tips.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of tiny, gold blossoms with perforated petals. They are sturdy and have no scent.

In mid-summer it produces , pentagon-shaped fruit. The waxy peach skin is thick and sweet, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is bitter and sour and very dry. The bronze seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is very rare outside of a particular area.
