Amaranthine Pine

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 60 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous flexible, straight stems covered in cracked, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of huge, finger-like, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either pastel yellow, or white with gold dots, sturdy and smooth.

It produces clusters of small, blood red flowers with perforated petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like leather. In late winter it forms giantbeige, spiky-shelled seeds.
