Burgundy Glow

This short cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The pleated stem is burgundy, and is dotted with small yellow spines.

It is slow growing, taking 29 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid bright green petals decorated with crimson lines and a black central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 13 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like musk.

The cactus's skin is thin, the amber flesh is leathery, and the white sap is thin.
