Frostbloom

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 99 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several very thick, angular stems covered in very thick, cracked, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of giant, wispy, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either caramel, or hazel with yellow patches, flimsy and covered in fine hairs.

In early summer it produces copious amounts of large, indigo blossoms with 9 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like fruity.

In late winter slender, 6 pointed fruits ripen. The waxy lime skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy hazel flesh is spicy and very dry. The brown seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.
