Vinefruit Tree

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 68 feet (20.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to dark blue at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, dark grey blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like pot-purri.

In mid-autumn it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The fuzzy purple skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft indigo flesh is bitter and juicy. The white seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
