Caramel Zigzag

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The pleated stem is emerald, and is covered in handfuls of fine, silver, hair-like spines. The straight, lime trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its red branches are short stubs and start growing at the base the stem.

The sparse amounts of smooth-edged, circular leaves are solid caramel or green, with magenta zig-zags. They are light, and easily come away when pulled.

It is very fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of dark brown and dark brown, with a pink central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 10 petals. It has an intense scent that smells like leather.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the green flesh is leathery, and the violet sap is thin.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is suitable for making paper
