Sickleberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in hard, silky, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is yellow-brown.
The abundance of branches are short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of large, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are green and hazel.
In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, azure blossoms with many layers of petals. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like new carpet.
In late summer it produces tiny, needle-like fruit. The crispy lime skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft cream flesh is sweet and spicy and oily. The crimson seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It blooms only at night.
