Waterleaf Tree

This average-sized tree grows up to 40 meters (131.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 648 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is white.

The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of covered in fine hairs, tiny, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are cream with cream tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, brown blossoms with 4 flame-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like a man.

In late summer it forms large, dark red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
