This red or lime moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps On rotten logs, and In rainforests.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is very resistant.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release dozens of spores.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It blooms only at night.
The sap is edible and slightly spicy.
It is bio-luminescent.
