The broad, flat, smooth leaves reach up to 7 inches (18 cm) in length. They are solid orange or white, with blood red streaks, and have ripped edges.
During late spring, the creeper produces hundreds of small pale purple flowers, and during the late autumn, after flowering, it produces a handful of large berries.
It can flourish even in standing water.
