Copperwood

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 39 feet (11.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in waxy, yellow bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of huge, sickle shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are orange on the edges and copper at the center.

In early spring, it produces balls of large, green blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have no scent.

In early summer it produces , circular fruit. The waxy blood red skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft hazel flesh is slightly bitter and oily. The orange seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
